The name ‘Itisu’ is a portmanteau of Sanskrit words iti (it is, thus) and su (good, powerful) and a play of words to mean ‘it is you’ which stands for a desire to share our journey towards sustainable clothing with you.

Itisu strives to incorporate materials and processes in its product designs which are environment and people-friendly. The most sustainable practices in manufacturing are the ones which employ the simplest of means to make the required produce. Going local with material sourcing has been one of the primary focus-areas. With the very first collection – ‘Daydream in Wilderness’, Itisu has decided to go for cotton with an all natural ayurvedic dyeing process using an ensemble of plants and herbs. The dyeing is carried out by artisans from southern India in kitchen-like settings with simple boilers and minimal hand‑operated machinery, to produce small batches of beautiful fabric.
